The People Behind ABC

Grant Shaw, Chief Executive Officer

Grant Shaw founded ABC in 1980 out of his home in San Jose, California. Since no software was available for the hobby computer (IMSAI 8080) he could afford, Grant wrote all the software for his original payroll system, including the operating system. Prior to that he was a computer engineer for Hewlett-Packard. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University and has more than 27 years experience in the payroll industry.

Michael Shaw, Chief Technical Officer

Michael earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree in Spanish from Ricks College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Brigham Young University. He specializes in database programming and user interface design. He was co-lead software engineer of the current generation of payroll processing software used by ABC. Michael has been a full-time employee of ABC since 1999.

David Shaw, Chief Operating Officer

David holds an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree in Computer Science from Ricks College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Brigham Young University. He specializes in web programming and computer security. David joined ABC in early 2003 and was the other co-lead software engineer of the current payroll software used by ABC. Prior to joining ABC, David programmed websites for online college courses. David also speaks Portuguese.
