ABC: A Short History, Part 3

After graduating from BYU in 1999, Grant's son Michael joined ABC. For the next three years he studied payroll and developed software which allowed the customers to access the main payroll system via the Internet. Three years later, Michael's brother David graduated from BYU and also joined ABC. Java Get Powered ABC had already decided it was time to produce the 3rd generation of its payroll software system, and with the hiring of David, this process sped up quickly. For the next three years, Michael and David spent much of their time designing a new and evolutionary version of Grant's systems. This time the software was able to be built upon existing operating systems (Windows), programming languages (Java), and relational database managers (FirebirdSQL). The completed software weighs-in at roughly 250,000 lines of programming source code! In August, 2004, ABC successfully made the switch from its second to third generation payroll software system. Having benefited from two previous generations of design, the current software represents a powerful and flexible payroll processing system.
